Even though Aart continued to suffer from nightmares he was deemed fit for action. So there he was, walking through the woods with his squad to ambush the Germans. His squad consisted of an American named Damien, two Jews, and a fellow Dutch named Hew the Jews names were Asher and Josiah. As they were walking they heard a branch snap, and suddenly the air was filled with bullets. “Hit the deck!” shouted Damien, Peter looked confused because he was just starting to learn English. “וואס(vas)?” Aart watched in horror as Asher took a bullet to the abdomen, dropping him like a rock. Aart shouted in Dutch, ”
Ik zal hem krijgen!” He started crawling to Peter, and then he heard a battle cry.
