The King’s Woods

The group of us hunters were reduced down to two, we lost three to the darkness their screams losing the life that sustained them, four to the kings men with their whistling arrows, and most recently one to the trees that felt like and fell like stone. Lyla looked at me taking in the foul taste of rotten flesh in the air. It was getting closer, whatever It was we didn’t know, but it commanded the darkness. Lyla suddenly screamed as the darkness caught her at the waist and pulled her in, her screams and pleads faded with her life. As I looked around I saw my dead friends coming towards me along with a bony, emaciated ghoul. The ghoul lifted his hand. I braced myself, I wouldn’t die like a coward, I wouldn’t reject it, I would accept it. I closed my eyes and let the darkness take me.
